Anyone's spouse/significant other vehemently opposed to you kilting?

Always nice to hear of someone having a good family and marriage or relationship, Hawk.

Yeah, we have a good one! She's a keeper- as are my kids. But with them I have no say in the matter...

Even though it was my wife's idea that I get a kilt, she still doesn't want me to wear one in public unless I am going to an event where there are other guys in kilts.

I hate that attitude. And so many kilt wearers have it, too. It's like "OK, I'll wear it to the wedding, and then run home and immediately shove it back into the closet. That way, no one sees me in it." As if it's a thing to do only when you have no other choice, and then hide shamefacedly as soon as humanly possible. I guess I don't understand why people are so ashamed of it.

I too am one of those poor saps whose wife objects. She has heard all the arguments but stands by her opinion, even acknowledging that it is illogical. This will be a long battle for me.

Have you tried the "I respect you enough not to tell you how to dress. Please afford me the same courtesy" argument? That worked for a friend of mine.
