Just as a side note, Islam strictly forbids the consumption of the fermentation of the grape and the grain, but interestingly not honey, so technically they can drink mead...
If mead doesnt cause drunkenness then perhaps it's allowed. I'd have to look way more into that one. If it causes any sort of drunkenness though then it's 100% haraam.
