I have many Morrison Green swatches but I haven't found one I just have to have, until now. There are several elements that make this tartan more interesting. First, the selection of a darker blue and a lighter green adds contrast. This along with the sett size increases the contast and size of the green guard or separator stripes so they are more easily seen. In the modern version it is very hard to see these stripes.
If I understand correctly the Morrison rendered in a similar fashion would have two horizontal red stripes all around and two vertical red stripes on the apron. Pleats would look the same or could be pleated to alternating red and black stripes (not sure if this would be cool or just weird).
