C x 9/5 + 32 = F
F -32 x 5/9 = C
F = -30 x 9/5 + 32 = -22F = COLD!!

Where's that whole little essay about what a Scot considers cold? You know, the one that ends with hell freezing over and Scotland winning the World Cup?

Last night was pretty chilly for Southern California, and I was out and about in my SWK Wallace economy, with a t-shirt and a sweater, and thin black socks with boots. My knees were a bit cold, but I imagine that if I were wearing hose instead of thin socks, it would have gone a long way in keeping my knees comfortable. Of course, it's nowhere near as cold as a lot of other places . . . I wonder what kilting will be like in January?

C x 1.8 + 32 = F is so much easier. Easier still is double the Celcius and add 30 to get Farenheit - it's close enough at usually only a degree or two off.
It's never too cold to kilt, of course, long johns underneath may be a good idea in your neck of the woods!

Now don't go getting all decimally on me. I'm a classicist I am. Those little dots between the numbers are an abomination unto the lord. I demand complexity!

Yesterday, I wore my Armstrong 16 oz 9-yarder, a t-shirt, parka, oatmeal KH, and hiking boots. Was a lot warmer than I was earlier when I'd put the snow tires on the car and ran to the PO. Wore shorts with cotton rugby socks, with the rest of the outfit mentioned above. Actually had a buddy of mine ask me if I was cold. Saw him a few minutes later and had taken off my parka, since I was so warm.

ROFL! My apologies. I think the same thing when I see those damnable slashes that signify a fraction is a'coming!

Currently here where I am (Jamestown ND) it is 0F/-18C with a steady 22mph wind produsing a wind chill of -23F a bit chilly. I don't tend to spend much time out in weather like this but I have no problems with being cold kilted as long as I remember proper hat, coat, and mits.
