Great pics, though it looks rather neglected in there among the weeds. Was it deisel or petrol powered?
Actually, the pictures were taken in May, when you can almost see the weeds in Southwest Colorado growing if you stare long enough. This and a few of the other surviving Geese (all but one, Motor #1, still survive) still function, and do a special run between Durango and Silverton at least once a year. I do believe that all of the Geese were gasoline (petrol) powered. This is Goose #5, built out of Pierce-Arrow parts.

Nope, Ridgway, Colorado (No "e"). Pretty much a collection of gas stations and convenience stores about halfway between Durango and Grand Junction on US 550. But that Railroad museum is way cool. They have the reproduction of Motor #1, and lots of the old cars from the Rio Grande Southern.
Nice to know that it still runs occasionally. One of my friends went on a railfans tour in the USA a couple of years back which included a trip on the Durnago and Silverton railrtoad. The only North American train which I've travelled on is the Budd RDC on the Esquimalt & Nanaimo Railway - went on it a couple of trips when I was in Victoria in 1987.

Alex, if you ever make it down to Colorado, The D&SNGRR is the ride of a lifetime. Having grown up in Durango, I have been blessed with the opportunity to ride it twice. My wife is a rail buff herself, so I will most likely get to ride a third time, next time I get to visit home.
