hmph...Humans, always limiting yourselves to wimpy Feddie Ships!!!
NOW...K'Tinga would slaughter the Mil. Falcon
Birds of Prey, even the smaller B'Rel class, would stomp an X-wing. The larger K'vort class would also smoke the Falcon and any slaves.
Vor'Cha...those big triangle ships in SW...yeah...there gone. Oh, and the Narn and Centari...targets!!!
NegH'Var...well, there is no competition for that, although the Vorlons would be a nice match.
Remember, we allowed the Federation to join in our victory over the Dominion.
Klingons Rule...Humans Drool...Vulcans go to Pre-School

So you're basicly saying that the battle is won by over-acting?

Actually, for the time, the acting was good. Looking back on it now we find it overwrought. But Shatner was down right docile compared to some of the acting in the 30s, for example! But in earlier decades they were acting as if on the stage.
Grant, the point we NCC-1701 types are trying to make is that it's not the technology that matters, it's the people behind it. Or the Kirk.
Kallen, I admit that the Klingon Empire is strong. But look at how many time Kirk beat the Klingons. Okay, so the Organians interveined in "Errand of Mercy", and we'll never know who would have won, but, as the man said, "It would have been glorious!"
Another thing in Kirk's favor, to add to Jamie's excellent list, is that if your ship, base, planet, space station, or car dashboard has a computer, Kirk can talk it to death. In one way or another, "What Are Little Girls Made Of?", "The Return of the Archons," "The Changeling," "I, Mudd," and "The Ultimate Computer," not to mention all the times he talked a higher life form to either death or departure (for instance, "Who Mourns for Adonais?", "Day of the Dove.")

Re: Old acting
I just love that style. It was largely due to the poor quality of the microphones back then, but I like the "stage style" performances better than the acting done today.
On the original topic, Original Star Trek through guile and trickery.

Depends, series or movies?

One thing you may have over looked is that Kirk cheated when he went through the kobishi(sp?) maru. BTW that is a great book.

I looked up the NegH'Var, very impressive. Certainly more than a match against the best the Centauri or Earth Alliance ships (Narn ships while rather advanced looking are actually not as powerful as Centauri or the EA vessels). However I imagine that any of the very large Minbari Capital ships would be a fairly even match. But no comparrison to either the Capital ships of the Vorlon or Shadows.
