    Very interesting tartan.
At least nine of my ancestors rode with Genr'l John Hunt Morgan out of East Kentucky.
Might have to add this one to my "list"

My Great Grandfather and his younger brother both rode with John Hunt Morgan, I have a copy of my GGF's testimony on behalf of my Great Uncle for his civil war pension application. Both of them enlisted at Mt. Sterling, Kentucky It is interesting some of the connections we share here on X-marks.

Guys, good luck with the kilts, that is indeed a very nice tartan.

I had a relative who served in Kentucky during the Civil War as well...with the 75th Illinois Infantry.

This is but I've just got to add that my Scobee's who remained in Kentucky sided with the Confederacy, & my 3rd great-grandfather Scobee who moved to Missouri prior to the war was a Union cavalry officer fighting guerrillas (my mother's people!)

Okay, I return y'all to the topic at hand

While I have "southern leanings" we honor the Blue and the Grey here, thats really cool. I think the Illinois regiment may have been involved in one of the bigger battles in KY , Battle of Mill Springs but have to check my history on that one!

    All the best,

Perryville, actually. They weren't in KY too long before moving into TN in time for the Battle of Murfreesboro.

I knew it was Western KY (which really is where anything of "real" substance occoured" except for some skirmishes and of course Gen. Morgans expoits.

Also am really learning alot on this site and have already actually met some folks from here (at the Burns Night in Cincinnati) thank you again for the hospitality!

Mt. Sterling is just east by north east of Lexington where the good Gen. hailed from. My family goes further east towards the hills to Rowan County and the Morehead area. Been in KY for 150+ years as near as we can figure...need that kilt!

My 6th great-grandfather John Scoby (b.1720 Scotland) came to the Stone Creek, Clark Co. area in the later 1700's (his eldest son, my 5th g-grandfather was born in 1776 in Kentucky).

An interesting side note, his name was spelled Scoby in Scotland & in the 1800 census. Then in the 1810 census he's listed as Scobie, and his son's as Scobee (my relatives current spelling), however an 1806 taxpayer list had him as Scobee!

No wonder there is so much confusion in genealogy research!
