There will always be small and closed-minded people everywhere. And not just religious people. I feel sorry for them because they are stuck in their little world and ,I think, are afraid to expose themselves to things they don't understand. Where I live we generally refer to these people as "rednecks". They all aren't as funny as Larry the Cable Guy.

I grew up in a rural area (in Ontario) whose inhabitants were, shall we say, less than worldly. An proud of it, eh! (Nice lookin' skirt ya got dere, eh? Where's yer pipes? Guffaw, Guffaw! you get the picture)

Back to the topic on hand: Upon further reflection, pretending to be unable to speak English probably wouldn't work. Someone like that would just speak louder! (Everybody knows that non-English speakers are notoriously deaf.)

If they are doing the old "if you do that you will go to hell" routine, I usually respond with "so what you're saying is... Jesus died in vain?"

Usually when people say that to me in any situation I reply: "I'll see you there." Just to show the point that what they're doing isn't necesarily the right thing.

That reminds me of when my wife and I were on holiday in Fuengirola (see Alex's post about storming the castle a couple of days ago). The place was crawling (hoaching) with timeshare touts and one got off a scooter and came up to us with a pitch. Fed up by this time my wife who has a little Gaelic said something to the girl in Gaelic (I think it was something about what the weather was today). The look on her face was a picture and she walked off.

He is to me, but that might be because I'm from Alabama and know quite a few people just like the ones he makes fun of. Or maybe I'm one that he makes fun of... hmmmmmm

Speaking of Jehova's witnesses, I know a preacher that just waits for them to show up at his house. When they start their spiel, he whips out his Bible and says "Show me where it says that. And then I get to show you where my beliefs come from." They don't hang around long.

To which I respond " Nice head you got there, mate. Where's yer brain?" Guffaw. Guffaw.

So, you see here that, at the time, women were required to wear négligées and men were required to wear towels.

I have towels just like those. Came via a promotion from a frozen food company.
BTW its good to see that the prisoner has nice fresh chain, not like that ol` rusty stuff you so often get in dungeons
