Right. We'll turn the volume on these right down for you. There's a switch right over here.

What an ignorant bunch of blighters. They're right - you can't tune wearing ear plugs. They muffle and distort the sound too much. And playing quieter really isn't an option either.

You can't on any instrument wearing ear plugs. I tune first (guitar not pipes) without ear plugs, then turn my amp to 11 (OK it's really 10, but you get the picture) and play with the ear plugs in.

Yes, but you can turn the amp down to tune. You can't just blow softer to make the pipes quieter. It doesn't work that way.

Pipers to EU - F### Off.

Really, it's just indicative of the legislative mindset. People think you can regulate everything without ill effect.

New venue needed for Pipe Competitions

I am afraid that the Scot Bagpipe competition will no longer be in Scotland, as the regulators are requiring it be off shored. Maybe we will see the tattoo moved to say Gillette Stadium. here in NEW England.

I have even a better idea.
I can't play the pipes, and am fairly clueless about music. i think that I should be able to get a set of horrid sounding pipes from one of the Gold Bros. tat shops, and put on my ear protectors while marching up and down in front of the E.U. in Brussels, blowing whatever sounds (ouch) that they might emit. Just to demonstrate how horrid their great regulations really are. Since I do not claim to be a piper and will wear same on my shirt as a disclaimer, I should not harm the ears and reputation of those who are indeed real musicians and artists of the Bagpipes.
