Nothing really to add to the other suggestions re the belt and how to scrunch the socks.

I like the boots with the turned-down hose!

Not bad at all for a young guy. If I tried it at my age, well . . .
Here's a casual, rolled sock look for me. Look closely and you can see the rolled down pair for hiking.

I think your outfit works just fine.
If you need more long socks I would suggest getting a few different colored pairs of solid color soccer socks. They don't work very well at all as kilt hose, but for hiking or scrunching down with a pair of hiking boots they work great (and they tend to be very good for actually hiking)

And don't worry about the white socks with that outfit. They look fine. I find that if I scrunch down black or navy or other dark socks, it leaves a lot of pasty white calf exposed. Not a happy situation. The white socks at least give the impression that I'm alive and cutaneous blood flow is taking place.

I think the boots and scrunched socks go very well with the UtiliKilt. Have you been able to locate an alternate belt? Perhapse a workmans belt would work like what you hold a tool belt up with??

Good tip. If you're on a budget you can pick one of these up at the hardware store for less than $10. They usually have a double-prong buckle in nickle plated steel, and often have a basket-weave pattern on the belt. A bit of black leather dye and a good polishing and you're good to go.

Man, screw the belt. I wear my standard kilt belt with my stag buckle from USA Kilts every single day. I love the look. I wear it with my Amerikilt, my Sport Kilt (on the rare occasions I wear my SK) and my more formal kilts. I think a trad belt looks great. Ignore these nay sayers.
The boots/hose look fine, too. The only time I condone the wearing of white hose is when the kilt is black. I think that looks killer.

I was teased about that very same thing earlier today!
