I have had several shipped from overseas, all were folded into quarters before being put in a shipping bag. And only two of them came with basting stitches in place to keep the pleats from getting messed up. After some hanging in the bathroom on a proper kilt friendly hanger and a good steaming the wrinkles were all gone. Shouldn't cause any lasting problems. Pretty standard service, unless you were buying the whole jacket, sporran, ghillies, hose, kilt, shirt, tie, flashes, belt and buckle, sgian dhub package, in which case they might feel like you deserved the extra mileage of a nice inexpensive hanger/nylon bag to carry it all in. But don't count on it these days. Margins are thin and getting thinner.

My thoughts exactly. My experiences from ordering overseas have been the same, but honestly I epxected my kilt to be shipped in a shipping bag. What I didn't expect was for the postal carrier to wad it up and shove it in the mailbox when he is supposed to bring oversize items to the door.

Times are very tight and will probably only get tighter before things get better.

I would probably ignore the bag and focus on the kilt. If the kilt is first rate I would be happy with a paper bag. It is no good to buy a lesser quality kilt because it came in a nice carrier.

Excellent point! I neglected to point out that the items I have ordered from Scotland were first rate, despite the shipping method.

Skauwt, I will add, though, the mix up in tartans is very poor service, especially if they didn't offer to correct it.

I agree, if the kilt is of good quality, they can send it to me in a used mcdonalds bag if they so choose.

My kilt from Hector Russell in the High St in Edinburgh came packed in a sturdy cardboard box.
