I really don't think you're a "goldilocks," Rex...
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

Wow! A lot of really good suggestions based on what's I've been able to sample online so far.

This is very intriguing. You may have helped me find exactly what interests me in this area right now. Thanks (everyone)!
My musical tastes have been changing of late. I'm attributing that to iTunes and its search and referral functions, and the ability to download individual numbers rather than having to purchase whole albums. I used to be only interested in classical, big band American standards, and new age stuff (aural wallpaper).
My current daytime playlist includes these tunes (none of it the celtic fusion stuff I asked for above):
Short Trip Home
Edgar Meyer, Joshua Bell, Mike Marshall & Sam Bush / Heartland: An Appalachian Anthology
Whither Must I Wander
Martha Wainwright / Martha Wainwright
Little Foothills Heaven
Corb Lund / Hair In My Eyes Like a Highland Steer
In Memory of Danny Gatton
John Jorgenson / Franco-American Swing
Our Love Is Easy
Melody Gardot / My One and Only Thrill (Bonus Track Version)
Can't Take My Eyes Off You
Lady Antebellum / Lady Antebellum
Trouble
Over the Rhine / The Trumpet Child
Everette
Slaid Cleaves / Unsung
Thomas Builder
Polyjesters / Ka-Chunk
Buildings & Mountains
The Republic Tigers / Keep Color
Ferris Wheel
The Freddy Jones Band / North Avenue Wake Up Call
Edge of the Ocean
Ivy / Long Distance
Falling Slowly (American Idol Studio Version)
Kris Allen / Falling Slowly (American Idol Studio Version) - Single
I Wish That They'd Sack Me
Chumbawamba / The Boy Bands Have Won
Paralyzer
Finger Eleven / Them vs. You vs. Me

Thanks, Rex, nice to know I could help in some small way . I misspelled the name though- it is Peatbog Faeries. I am sure you discovered that by now. Your list is pretty eclectic- I'll have to do some listening on my own, love Martha Wainwright and I am still very intrigued by McMurdo's Tarja Turunen in another thread.
All the best,

Rex,
From reading your list I think you might like the Afro Celt Sound System. They've been around for quite a while, but IMHO their first 3 albums totally ROCK!
Volume 1: Sound Magic
Volume 2: Release
Volume 3: Further in Time
Start with Volume 1...
BTW, I know Mike Marshall. Awesome mandolin (and guitar) player!!

Ah, yes, thanks for reminding me. I haven't heard them in years - used to hear them a lot on late-night radio. Some of the stuff on Volume 2 you mentioned reminds me of some of The Art of Noise music I picked up some years ago.

Do "degrees of separation" count when the connection is a web forum?
Regards,
Rex.
