    Thanks for the input Jamie. I don't really like the look of Argylls with no waistcoat - unless I was going quite informal with a black Argyll, black shirt and no tie.
    I realise the waistcoat adds a bit of formality - just as it does to a suit but I'm guessing that everyone else at the wedding will be formal to the same standard. After all - women in Scotland tend to wear formal evening dresses to weddings and men tend to put on their best suit (if not going kilted) - waistcoat or not.
    At the moment I dont think I would go as formal as a Prince Charlie but I think the waistcoat with an Argyll is a nice, formal touch.
    I'm interested to hear your views on this though.
