Casual belts are more like this
and "Traditional" would be more along these lines
Is the extra leather flapping around? If so a keeper to hold it in place should do the trick. Give us more detail and I'm sure we can help.
The belt I have has velcro on the inside for adjustability but creates a double belt thickness on one side. Here is the link to the belt I have:
