With what I've read about how careful advertisers are about product placement and portrayal, I'm guessing that the glass holds an H2O-like beverage because some jurisdictions, such as mine own Canuckistanian one, have laws against protraying someone actually drinking or even holding the alcoholic product.
Also, considering some of the previous discussion, I've been waiting for someone to come up with what I (think I) remember about the Scotch used in the orginal series- did not Scotty say it was of Antarean (or somesuch scientifictiony popular but astronomically unlikely) origin?
Really though, I have to stop watching those "Big Bang Theory" marathons so much... they're having an effect... a bad effect...
