This has been mentioned before but there are problems with it if I remember correctly.
The main one i can think of being that we are not a clan in the traditional sense and of course who would staff it?
Just my tuppence however, if it was possible I think it would be quite a good idea
The hielan' man he wears the kilt, even when it's snowin';
He kens na where the wind comes frae,
But he kens fine where its goin'.

Good point, but maybe it could be located between the clan tents and vendor tents...and who would staff it? Well, we would of course! Lol I am sure if there was a small manual drawn up even the most amatuer could figure it out. Maybe just an informational tent about the site/community/kilt making. The last celtic festival/highland games I went to had no tent sponsoring information on kilt making or the like. Just an ideeeear! lol

It's a nice idea. Good for PR. But I think the logistics would be complicated. I would think that at most games and such most of the members in that general area will be involved in other things with the games, clans, etc. Staffing could be very problematic. I know I would rather be doing other things...of course, I'd never bill myself as a public relations type anyhow. It would be, to me at least, like going to see the circus and instead being put to work taking tickets.
The grass is greener on the other side of the fence...and it's usually greenest right above the septic tank.

I guess as far as logistics go, I was think of a more volunteer type thing, where it's completely optional. I know for me personally, most of what I do at events is walk around and talk to people, so it would be easy for me to just stay in one specified area and do the same, just let the people come to me. Also, if there were more than one who volunteered, they could do shifts of sorts...
It would also be a great reason to have my significant other fetch me food and drink MUAHAHAHAHAHAH "Sorry hun, gotta watch the booth" lol

BB if you go to www.cmana.net they have a convenors corner that tells you everything you need to know about running a tent.
I would be more than happy to tailor the generic model to fit XMarks, submit it to the powers that be for aproval and have it available for anyone who wants to put this info at their Clan tent.

Sweet! Thanks for the info! This will be needed regardless for me because I plan to do some work at other festivals not totally pertaining to kilts.
Which brings up another point, xmarks could possibly venture out??? I know flagstaff hosts an annual wool festival that is FREAKIN AWESOME!...2 day event.

Frankly, the maximum in convenience would be to have the Xmarks spot set up at the beer tent so we wouldn't have to keep going back and forth....

On the Scottish side of my psyche, it immediately occurred to me that manning, excuse me, personing, an organizational tent means free admission to the Glengarry Highland Games, which are held nearby My Fair City, plus such perks as preferred parking, ie less than a kilometer away. Think a'n the saving! On the other hand, Xmarks might well be considered a business by the canny Scots running said event- and I believe their fees for such are rather higher than for some other Games.

Any games that you go to in the US where you find a Clan MacLea (Livingstone) tent you are welcome to meet since I am in charge of all of them. That being said, we were at 5 highland games last year (3 here in CO, 1 in AZ, and 1 in OR) and hope to be in more this year. If anyone asks why you are meeting there, just let them know I said you could.
