I can almost guarantee even with buying everything you need, you can build 2 X-kilts for less than the cost of 1 utilikilt. I'm on my 2nd xkilt, and making it harder than it needs to be because I want to make the inside of the pleats a different color. Around here, at Jo Ann Fabrics, without a sale, you can buy a decent sewing machine for about a hundred bucks. Wait for a sale, and that price goes down. Don't ever pay full price for fabric at Jo Ann fabrics. Wait a few weeks, and the fabric you want will be on sale.
