I agree! There was an outfit on Ebay a while back (can't find it now) that came with a Saltire kilt, had the Saltire flag embroidered on the hose and on the flashes, had the Saltire flag on the fur on the sporran, had a Saltire on the belt buckle, on the sgian, on the kilt pin, on the cufflinks... there might have been more, but that's all I can remember. Anyhow it was overkill piled on top of overkill!

On the other hand, I have a love of the old Scottish military uniforms and I have read that the Full Dress uniform of the Pipe Major of the Black Watch has 36 depictions of St Andrews holding his Cross. Would be interesting to try to name them all. (No, not the cap badge, nor the belt buckle...) The Drum Major's uniform is said to have a like number.

Very true that there is such a thing as overkill. Also, I agree that the above posted rig is probably aimed at sportsfans. I have seen such get-ups worn at sporting events, for sure.

Richard, I have to admit that our pipe band comes close to this. We have our band crest on our cap badges, collar badges, cuff links, kilt pins, bag covers, belt buckles and sporrans.

My sentiments exactly. They don't fire my rockets either but there's no denying they sell, so some people must like them. My solution is I'll just carry on not buying them.

I think we're overlooking the obvious. I live in Texas, and don't religiously follow sports from "across the pond" (rugby and soccer [football]). but many in the UK do. The saltre set to me would be perfect to watch Scotland play anyone. (And I've seen videos of matches where the stands are full of screaming face painted kilt wearers. Tacky in any other context, de rigeur there. I would never wear them, but there are those here who I'm sure would die for the chance to get a matching buckle and sporran, embriodered hose and kilt pin that bore the silver star on blue of the Dallas Cowpie, er... Cowboys. Athletic supporters are loyal and love to show it.

Hit the nail on the head, Dave, the Saltaire rig would definitely be aimed at the sports fans - perhaps especially when playing the Irish, who also wear kilts! The kilts also look to be "sports quality".

Not for me, though and as for the "pink bunny", the mind boggles!

So true! One might wear a Saltire kilt, have a Saltire shirt, another painted on the face, and so on. In that context there's no such thing as "too much"
