Now you have my curiosity up - Isn't it customary for men and women to wear wedding bands in Scotland?

Once again,my apologies for going off topic.I think that in the UK a man would not often have a wedding ring, although I was at my niece's wedding a few weeks ago and her husband did have a wedding ring. She informed me that it is not unusual these days.I really must keep up with fashions!Thankyou all for your comments on this matter.

The other traditional place to store things is the pocket you make between the apron and the kilt when you put the belt on. I keep tickets, money, etc. tucked in there.

Cool pic. Proper matching socks is probably the most challenging part of kilt wearing, other than the questions (matching the kilt, I figure you can do the matching pair thing).

Point of clarification: The "Mighty Mo" is the USS Missouri, on which the Japanese surrendered in September, 1945.

    Missouri's nicknames are:

    The Cave State -- http://thelibrary.org/faq/files/mocave.cfm
    The "Puke" State (19th century)

Because constructive criticism is always welcome with me, did my socks match properly in your opinion? Im not sure what you are meaning by this statement. Also has anyone else substituted traditional knitted kilt hose for over the calf dress socks?

You looked great! I have worn OTC socks on occasion. I have a couple of pairs that are just long enough to look right; and luckily they'll stay up without garters. When plotting my first kilt purchase, I picked up some long wool-blend hiking socks at end-of-season sales: those work, too.

I only wear my wedding ring to go out nice with the wife, or if I am going out of town to a knife show or something else without her. To wear a ring of any sort (or most any kind of "ornamentation") in the bladesmith shop is to invite disaster. Pockets are trouble too if you are all the time making sparks and scale and hot stuff flying about.

I have been known to stash all manner of kit in my hose tops though. Most anything that will fit comfortably. Cell phone is kinda bulky, but it would work if had good socks, and you have need. Which is after all, the way new things get thought up (or sometime the wheel re-invented, witness all the modern "sporran like" waist bags that abound now).
