This is your hobby. lol. And frankly, it's a good one, too. Better than my hobby.

And 45 minutes this morning.....the kilt now has a waistband. All that's left is the belt loops and hand-sewing one button. It should be done in time for beer and kilts night.

Another hour and a half...I busted a needle and had to try two more to find one that would work. This material is pretty tough and putting folded-over belt-loop ends onto about 8 layers of cloth and bar-tacking them down onto the waistband...well.... So I had to move the belt loops down a bit, off of the waistband. Not a big deal. ANYWAY, belt loops on, buttonhole for the left hand corner of the under-apron is in, and the button sewn on. I hand-reinforced the velcro in one odd location...bit of an experiment.

I did this one FAST 'cause I'm pressed for time. It's a nice, sturdy, wearable kilt but some of the stitching could be a bit straighter! Probably nobody but me will notice....well, and the F-H.A.A.G. who freely admits to being obsessive compulsive and will likely put the thing under a microscope! Remember, this is supoosed to be a QUICK AND EASY kilt to sew!

I've finally decided for sure. I'm not ever gonna bother to sew the INSIDE folds of the box pleats.

I just have to wash it to get out the chalk marks, and press it up again for a final go and it's ready.

Has she gone back to her maiden name or has she added 'Alcholic' to her title?

You really need to think before you post, Grant! That's Flame-Haired Awesome Amazon BLOODTHIRSTY Goddess to you! Besides, I never did change my maiden name.

Total time sewing and cutting out and replacing needles in the bloody (not literally) machine... roughly six hours and 45 minutes. Hey, I'm starting to get down to Tartan Hiker's sorts of times!

Add in washing, running to JoAnne's for thread, velcro etc and it's probably nine hours total time spent, but then I'm doing other stuff while I throw the fabric in the washing machine and dryer..

Beginners will NOT be able to make an X-Kilt this fast! For you, budget 13-18 hours.

Panache, bring a 1.5 inch wide belt to Beer and Kilts Night this month. I made my belt loops on my predator camo X-Kilt wide enough to fit a "real kilt belt" but I decided both they and the belt look dumb, so I made your belts loops wide enough to fit a 1.5 inch belt.
