Project Great Kilt (belted plaid)
I'm really looking forward to this...
...with the holidays approaching, my plan is to be in great kilt, absolutely, by Christmas; T-giving would be even better. Most of my family members wear Phillabegs... think it would be cool to be the BP wearer in the holiday photos.
My first chore is selecting yardage. This mostly Germanic area I live in will make tartan shopping difficult. May have to go the online route. Any suggestions on PV sources will be appreciated...
I'm a bit on the "thick" side... I wear a size 40 phillabeg, I figure 5 yards ought to do me OK.
I've always liked the look of the predominately brown/earthy tartans, although my family wears Stewart.
Probably will go with Stewart, for the holiday/family reasons... personal choice to come later.
A merchant at the MD RenFest was kind enough to show me how to fold & wear a PB, I've been hooked on the idea of a Great Kilt ever since.
The versatility of how a GK can be worn is very appealing, to me.
Ideas, suggestions, hints, links, advice and threats would be greatly appreciated!
