where's your bagpipe?
a guy asked me as I walked into a liquor store to get our stock for tonight.
leatherneck wool, full mil hose/shoes combo, commando sweater and a WWII tanker jacket sporting the Ranger tab I was given to me by the 5th Ranger Battalion vets, arms crossed and legs slightly apart:
'right here under my kilt bubb'
'uuuuuh' (you know, as in 'you got me there buddy')
couple people around of course had to turn and look at what was about to take place.
'ha, good one, I had to give it a try, right?'
'yup, guess you did'
kept walking past the guy and the other patrons, grabbed 2 six packs, a bottle of Old Parr and as I'm walking out after paying, the guy goes:
'happy new year man'
'you too bubb'

My usual response is they are in back of my truck. Would you like me to play you a tune? I only charge $100 for the first one. Shuts them up every time.

I was asked that same question by a tourist:
Me: "Got 'em right here."
Goomer: "That's a bagpipe?"
Here's your sign....

It happened today. We were attending a gathering, and the Capt. was kilted. Sure enough, some woman asked the "where are your pipes question." Gotta love it. It's better than being ignored.

People who ask me usually recognize me as part of the local pipe band. My usual response is to offer a business card.

If someone is being particularly obnoxious when asking where your bagpipes are, a good way to embarrass him is the reply, "under my kilt, want to play them?"
