My wife wants me to get something non tartan. Other than the leather kilt I plan to buy this sumer she may not get her wish. I am not a fan of solid color Kilts. Utilikilts and Amrikilts looks nice and are well made, I even want to buy a survival utilikilt someday, but I like the tartan look better. Just preference.
I think utilikilt pushes for the change a lit and are clearly masculine and at the same time they are a far removed from traditional Scottish style as you can get and still use the name Kilt successfully. I think they do the best push for MUG's to be accepted. Obviously crossdressers to the worst harm to MUG's being accepted in the culture.
