Seconding the welcome- and wearing a kilt to a Burns supper is most appropriate. My understanding is that in the States, we make them black tie affairs, while in Scotland, they are only semiformal, so it sounds to me like the outfit you describe would be perfect. I myself plan on wearing my Albannach tartan kilt from USA Kilts, sage green hose with cuffs made to match my Albannach, white shirt, red tie, black sweater vest, and a formal rabbit fur sporran. (I would point out here that I am well aware that a semidress sporran would be much more appropriate, but my son... involuntarily destroyed my semidress sporran and I haven't replaced it yet. Actually I should post about my options in the advice forum.)
