For a real Texas style kilt pin you could always make a nice one out of a rattlesnake rattle . They have the rattles pretty cheap on e-bay, just glue a pin on the back.
Ropers don't look that much different than many of the lace up boots people wear with their kilt
A cowboy hat would probably look nice but I would draw the line at a sombrero
